there's a type of tumblr funnyperson who's never posted explicit hate/exclusionism towards asexuals and other a-specs... and yet, they like to make up a guy. where the type of guy they always make up undermines any trust a-specs might've otherwise had for them. for example, a common post format is making up a hypothetical tumblr user's bio that's obviously just so cringe, according to the sensibilities of everyone reading — wherein the implied joke is how we've all seen someone in the wild who's cringe like this, right?

these posts always feel the need to slide some a-spec microlabel in there. a lot of the time, it's specifically an ace-spec microlabel plus "heteroromantic," especially if they think that the guy they're making up is trying to be a real special snowflake. to round out the "cringe," they usually pepper in at least one element from the set of: neopronouns, a namedropped mental illness, and a piece of media that's targeted at children/popular for tumblr to hate at the time.

then a zillion people reblog that post, all agreeing haha that's so cringe, and a million a-spec people (and nonbinary and autistic people) shudder — because are they the butt of the joke, to the people reblogging it? or are the people reblogging just laughing about a different element, like a comically long DNI or something, which has distracted them from noticing the fact that OP clearly associates a-spec identities with "cringe"?

if any a-spec people point this out about OP, or ask a reblogger if they support ace people, they are inevitably accused of overreacting — which is great for the aphobes, because they get a new "cringe" a-spec person to point and laugh at. it's just such a nasty cycle, and even people who wouldn't consider themselves aphobes aren't great at noticing and interrogating it.

What make you think Dean is not a bottom?

i’ll never understand why 99% of spn fandom are so convinced he is a bottom with men when he’s canonically 1) straight (he said so himself multiple times, also jensen confirmed it) 2) homophobic (he HAS said things that are kinda homophobic and since he’s not canonically not straight, those things are just homophobic) 3) if we’re talking about wincest then it couldn’t be more obvious from their canon interactions that his primal urge is to possess/control sam in every aspect, including physically, and also regain control that john took away from him when he was younger (which also explains his repressed enjoyment of violence & sadism that he’s ashamed of). i often see shippers say that he “just wants to submit and be vulnerable” but i don’t get that vibe from him at all, especially when it comes to sam. on the contrary he is often shown to be physically violent with sam and he goes unhinged every time he loses a bit of control over him (which partly comes from his unhealthy obsession with the ideal version of sam). he enjoys having that power/control over sam because it gives him the feeling of stability, he feels confident when he knows sam belongs to him. also just because he lets women take the lead in bed doesn’t mean it’d be like that with sam because dean has completely different needs when it comes to their dynamic

Also, it's interesting to me that there was never really any hint of Izutsumi being swayed by the demon. She seems pretty resistant to it, actually.

With Marcille there are plenty of signs on reread that she could become a dungeon lord, and of course Laios' desires have been rather plainative from the start.

But Izutsumi's desires are complicated. As we see in the succubus chapter, she has the desires of both a beast and a tallman. She has those conflicting desires as a result of her nature as a beastkin, but she also has complicated desires as an individual. There's that one panel near the end where she's looking despondent and thinking "If I only do what I like, I won't be able to see the people I like, or eat the food I want. Worse, if I only do what I like, I won't be able to eat at all."

Izutsumi has never been in conflict with her desires. She satisfies herself endlessly and without patience. But her desires are complex enough that she finds herself frustrated in her attempts to achieve them, both by her own emotions (like when Inutade gets injured clearing the roof when Izutsumi was meant to do it) and by others (like... basically 90% of her early interactions with Laios' party.)

She seems like a perfect target for a dungeon lord: I even think she has a strong contender for that "all-consuming" desire the demon tends to go for (Marcille's desire to make everyone live to the same age, Laios' desire to become a monster, Thistle's desire to find Delgal and protect the Golden Kingdom, etc) in wanting to become fully human again. I don't know if the demon can grant that to her, but it would certainly promise so.

And yet, Izutsumi has always been resistant to having her desires being preyed on. Like I mentioned earlier, there's the succubus chapter, but there's also after Laios talks to the demon. Izutsumi acts near instantly, killing Laios before the others even have a chance to figure out what's going on. And I don't think this is Izutsumi-typical flippantness either. We know she cares about Laios & the party by this point in the story, that's why she came with them to fight the demon in the first place. She'd never do anything she didn't want to.

I don't really have a point to this. It's just neat.
